Topic Research
Topic of choice: Think about a theme you see running through your life (failure is the best lesson, love is eternal, etc). Choose a reading that you think also discusses this theme (even if it reaches different conclusions about it). Explore connections between how the theme plays out in your life, and how the theme gets played out in the reading.
The key element I will need the most for this topic is being able to identify themes in the stories we are reading. If I am unable to pinpoint this, then I wouldn’t even be able to relate it back to myself later.
I chose this topic to do first cause I feel it’s kinda fun, and it’s a way to make myself feel more immersed in the readings. There’s several themes I can identify in my life, so I should be able to find a reading that aligns with one.
I think I’ll go about doing this project by first identifying readings I liked a lot and possibly using my literary analysis and reading notes to quickly view the key points of these readings. Once I find the reading I feel is suitable, then I can identify the theme I’m going to discuss and start relating the key points of how it played out in the story. Finally, I want to relate it back to myself to wrap it all together and make it feel organized.
The only sources I can think of at the moment for this topic would be just websites that list general life themes so I can relate it quickly to myself and maybe the reading, but this project is more of an inner reflection, so I shouldn’t require too much more than myself and my reading.
