Introduction of an Odd One Out Student

Hello, First off quick about me: I’m Michelle Melton and I’m taking this class for pharmacy school requirements, which I’ll be starting fall this year! I’m super excited to start my next educational path. As likewise, my favorite classes tend to be all science ones, and I’ve had to take quite a bit to get to this point.

Some fun stuff about me:

  • I have a cat, several fish, and three chickens! I love them all, even though it is a lot of cleaning and care for them.  My fish are a Betta Fish and several Pygmy Cory cats. Extremely cute guys. My chickens are an Australorp, Barred Rock, and an Easter Egger.

  • My hobbies besides my pets are illustration art, print making, and video games. It’s a good way to keep myself busy and express myself on paper.
  • How I keep active is right now is Taekwondo, yoga, and polefit. They’re all really enjoyable, and all three have different purposes, but have ways to relate to each other! I’m new to polefit, but I’ve really enjoy learning something new that requires a lot more strength than people realize. Don’t be afraid to try things that might be a little bit out there after all!

  • My personal goals obviously, based off of what I’m doing next is to graduate with my Pharm.D, and start my career as a full fledged pharmacist. I love medical related stuff, and I can’t wait to get my internship license so I can start providing to the community and helping out. For a lot of people, their pharmacist might be their doctor, so it’s important for us to be out there too! We go to just as much school as well.
  • Finally, some people who know me might describe me as having a cold exterior, but being fun and extremely silly once we all warm up together. I’m called ambitious and exciting, and well liked once I’m known.

I look forward to learning about this class and everyone in it, and hope this was a good quick run down about myself!

  1. Hi Michelle! Welcome to the class! Thanks for showing us some of your art and the different colored eggs. I had an Americauna and some Black Sex Links for a while, and really enjoyed learning about them. That's a great picture of your fish, too!

Can I make a suggestion? It's a bit difficult to read your posts because you use black ink on a dark purple background. I think if you change the background color to something lighter, or change the ink color to white, it will be easier to read your great writing!

I look forward to working with you this semester!

  2. Hi Michelle! First thing off the bat, you may not be the odd one out after-all! Oddly enough I'm also pursuing the pharmacy route *at least for now* and I actually have the PTCB test tomorrow. I'm actually quite nervous about it, any tips on memorizing medications? I'm totally stumped. Anyways, you seem to be a very interesting person for sure. I showed interest in pole fitness before but didn't know anyone that tried it. I heard it takes a lot of core strength, so I applaud you for it. Have a great semester and good luck pursuing your Pharm.D.

  3. Hey Michelle! Just wanted to say that you are an awesome photographer! It definitely seems that there is a lot of creativity to you. I too love Taekwondo (and Krav Maga and Jiu Jitsu.) PoleFit sounds fun too. I didn't realize that there was a location around that had anything like it. It has always sounded really cool, but really hard. Also wanted to say good luck with your pursuit of becoming a pharmacist!

  4. Hi Michelle,

You’ve got pets! I love pets!

I really like that you gave a broad overview of your interests and yourself. It really helps to get to (virtually) know you.

I’m really impressed that you have so many interests, do you like to make video games or do you play?

I’m also interested in the medical fields, I’m glad you’re pursuing Pharmacology, it’s a very important science and contribution to society.

  6. Congrats on getting to your pharmacy School Michelle! Very cool to hear about all of your pets. I am sure between all of them you are quite busy with cleaning and feeding. Anything Medical related will require a lot of school, props to you for chasing your dream to be a Pharmacist!

  7. Hi Michelle, you've got such a great variety of interests! I've heard about pole fitness and can only imagine the strength you must have to do that. I enjoy playing video games now and then too, but my kids laugh at me because I'm apparently old school and like playing the old Nintendo games instead of all the action games on PS4 and Xbox. :-) Good luck to you with your Pharmacology degree! I look forward to reading more of your work this semester.
